Twelve hours. Four nurses. Fifty-two people in the waiting room. And at 4:08 a.m., an email that says she has been chosen.
Jess Calloway has been an ER nurse for fourteen years. She has eleven hundred dollars in the bank, a car with two hundred thousand miles on it, and a face she sees every night at three in the morning. Tonight is her third night shift in a row, and before dawn she will click Accept on an invitation to a luxury desert retreat she never applied for.
She won't notice the silver sedan waiting across the parking lot.
