The Halloway Notes (An Ashwing Academy Prequel)

Six years before the Ember Draw, a fourteen-year-old boy followed his mother into the Hatching Hall at midnight, and laid his hand on an egg that everyone said was dead.

Lady Maren Halloway is the fastest rider in Ashwing Academy and the only one asking why the dragon eggs have stopped hatching. Her son Ardan helps her read the oldest books in the library, where they find a word that disappeared from the records three hundred years ago: grey. Then she takes her questions to the Wingmaster.

This is the story of the secret sewn into the lining of a boy's coat, and the day that made Ardan Halloway the traitor's son. Read it before Ashwing Academy, or after it, and see Ardan in a whole new light.
