What We Kept in the Garage

Their mother kept the key around her neck for forty years.

Forty-one days after their mother's death, three grown siblings meet at the little brick ranch in Parma to divide up the house: Tomasz, the careful actuary; Renata, the hospice nurse who can't stop talking; and Beck, the youngest, who finds the key. Behind the padlocked garage door is the thing she never explained. A warm, bittersweet literary novella about family, secrets and what we choose to keep.
