The Empress erases towns from the map. She can draw them back.
In the Empire of Corvath, the Great Map doesn't just show the land. It holds it. Roads drawn on it stay open, borders drawn on it can't be crossed, and any town scraped off it vanishes from the world. Apprentice ink-grinder Ilsa Venn is the only one who hears the erased people calling. When she learns she is a true Drawer, the first in six hundred years, she flees north with a disgraced knight and a river-witch, into the Unmapped lands, to find the First Map, the one that remembers everything the Empire tried to erase.
A sweeping, emotional epic fantasy about power, memory and the people left off the map.
